when it comes to computer troubleshooting, i RARELY give up to problems – when i say RARELY, i mean i do not give up and say to myself ‘i need to wipe the hard drive and reinstall everything. reinstalling the operating system takes a huge amount of my time, and apart from that, you’ll have to reinstall all the drivers too, so that all components would work correctly with the OS.and there’s also the need to install your programs – your MS Office, your games, Photoshop, the printer software, the burning software, your mobile phone program, the list goes on! and that doesnt stop there – you also need to setup (again!) your internet service, run updates from Windows, install anti-virus, etc…

tonight, i got an issue with MS Office Home and Student 2007 – it’s already registered and activated, and was working fine, until a couple of days back, when i pulled up MS Word, and cant click on anything, like everything is greyed out. nothing has changed – no updates ran, no new programs installed. i checked MS Excel, and all the buttons in MS Excel are doing okay. So i Google-ed and look for solutions but found none specific to my quest. so went back to MS Office Tools and ran MS Office Diagnostics. it took quite a while to finish running 5 series of steps, only to find out from the results that yes, the diagnostics was able to find ONE problem with my Microsoft Office System Software and that i need to run updates for MS Office. So i went to Microsoft and ran MS Office updates, which of course, took q u i t e a w h i l e to download and install. I restarted the computer after downloading and installing the updates — and boom!!!

IT’S STILL NOT WORKING.

i did some research…

and research some more…

did a few more researches….
but to no avail.

SOLUTION:
Uninstall Microsoft Office
regedit and delete the Office folder, path – HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office
Reinstall Microsoft Office
